Building a credible geointelligence infrastructure for defence and internal security

Wars are no longer fought at pre-defined battlefield. Battle zones have now become digitised and pose new challenges for national Defence and Security. The modern battlefield requires new approach. Geospatial intelligence (Geoint) lays the critical foundation of this new method as it involves amalgamation of different type of intelligence like location intelligence, Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Communications Intelligence (COMINT) and Human Intelligence (HUMINT).

The importance of building an effective geospatial infrastructure for defence and security is vital and significant as it facilitates multi-source information sharing and integration across agencies and organisations by providing a common framework upon which other information is based. The conference would thus highlight the importance of geointel in today’s world and lay emphasis on building a credible infrastructure for the same.
